As a general rule of thumb, we look for a keyword phrase with a Search
Count of at least
1000 and an Exact Phrase Count of
less than 100,000.
But, we’ll go over that number for Exact
Phrase Count if the
Search Count is
high and SOC is
good. For example, if we see a Search Count
of 5000 and an Exact
Phrase Count of
200,000, then we will look at Strength of
Competition. If the
SOC is
green, we will then check the Measure of
Backlinks and if
that shows 20 or less links we would consider that a good market to
target.
That’s because the SOC is
indicating that even though there are many competitors, they are
fairly weak and someone should be able to grab a foothold in Google
with some good Search Engine Optimization techniques (i.e.,
backlinks).
A Great Niche Market
If you find a keyword phrase with a Search
Count of at least
5000 and an Exact Phrase Count of
less than 50,000, you may have just found a Golden Nugget! Of
course, you still need to check the SOC and see if it shows
Green. There are tens of thousands of these "golden
nugget" keyword phrases out there, so spend some time with

find them, see if the keyword phrase is available as a Top Level
Domain name, either .com, .net, or .org., or even .ws as a last
